Gramercy Park, New York, NY
This proposed plan for the penthouse in a beautiful pre-war building on Gramercy Park North balances open loft-like living with the coziness of traditional rooms. New large windows on the south elevation engage the Park and capture light and City views. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows and doors on the east and west elevations engage the terraces, transforming the apartment from a dark series of unrelated rooms to a light-filled apartment with appropriate flow.
The design and the finishes were developed in collaboration with the client to reflect the Texas roots of one and the Latin roots of the other, so that each room has a strong personal connection and individual sensibility. Millwork patterns and details were inspired by the Beaux-Arts plan of Gramercy Park.
